Quality Control Lab Technician
Grand Rapids, MI
12-nights (2-2-3 schedule), 6pm-6:30am
Position Overview
The Quality Control Lab Technician supports manufacturing by performing accurate testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products. This role ensures timely communication of test results, batch adjustments, and release decisions to operations teams. The technician also initiates notifications and conducts preliminary investigations for non-conforming materials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform chemical, physical, and visual testing using standard procedures
- Record test data and usage decisions in SAP
- Determine raw material adjustment amounts to meet specifications
- Collect and store retain samples as required
- Create non-conformance notifications and complete initial investigations
- Support customer complaint investigations through batch and sample review
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and housekeeping standards
- Prepare reagents and ensure readiness for scheduled production testing
Minimum Requirements
- Junior college degree or higher in a chemistry-related field
- 3-5 years of laboratory experience
- Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency with Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to follow safety requirements and use appropriate PPE
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in the chemical industry
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally
- Familiarity with SAP data entry processes
- Experience collaborating in multinational environments
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $26 - $29/hr.
