Based in Warsaw, IN the Quality Engineer will perform essential job functions associate with heat treatment under the direction of the Quality Manager to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.
Management responsibility includes assuming the duties of the Quality Manager in his/her absence.
Identifying and recording present or potential conditions that would have a detrimental effect on product, process, or the quality system and initiating corrective or preventive action procedures to address these conditions and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions. Coordinating the interdepartmental efforts required to comply with quality assurance requirements.
Identifying quality training needs and taking steps to ensure training is provided.
Reporting on the performance of the quality system to management for review and as a basis for improvement of the quality system.
Communicating to all levels on the status of the quality management system.
Assist in general quality activities including control of quality records, monitoring quality objectives at all levels, implement, monitor, and maintain the BMS, evaluation/disposition of non- conformances, audits (on site and internal), implementation and support of the navigator operating system.
Monitor and maintain instruments including instrument recall, instrument calibration, monitor and maintain process control testing, temperature uniformity surveys, quench effectiveness, monthly mechanical testing, surface contamination test, carb/de-carb test, IGA and IGO test, burnouts and leak ups.
Support in process and final inspection processes, receiving inspection, contract review, braze and heat treat, temper inspection, generate and sign certifications.
Practice and promotes safety and good housekeeping
This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage

Education - Must possess basic metallurgical knowledge obtained through formal university or college training or combination of training and experience. Engineering degree preferred.
Five years’ experience in Quality Control and practical knowledge of commercial heat treatment of steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel, brass, copper, etc. Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language to interface with management and all levels, both in-house and at customer’s place of business
Must be capable of writing general procedures for heat treatment of specific alloys, in accordance with customer needs.
Must be capable of making written recommendations for improving Quality System and Procedures.
Must be thoroughly familiar with commercial, aircraft, and aerospace specification, ASME and military specification codes as required.
Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required
Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an office/industrial environment
Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
