Design, develop, and maintain onboarding and competency‑based education programs aligned with:
Evidence‑based practice Mercy’s Nursing Professional Practice Model Patient Experience initiatives
Create and coordinate comprehensive orientation plans for newly hired licensed and unlicensed coworkers Schedule orientation activities, document competency completion, and communicate education needs with leaders Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging adult learning environment Utilize diverse teaching strategies (virtual and in‑person), including simulation, mock events, and case‑based learning Partner with peers to support:
Hospital and regional nurse residency programs Academic School of Nursing relationships as adjunct faculty
Serve as a role model for Mercy’s culture of excellence, safety, and compassion Provide timely feedback, coaching, and professional development guidance Maintain proficiency in clinical skills, EMR systems, learning management platforms, scheduling tools, Microsoft Office, and AV equipment Support education related to Mercy policies (infection prevention, HIPAA, emergency preparedness, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned
✅ Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: RN license in the appropriate state AHA BLS Provider certification Clinical experience requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree:
Minimum
2 years
clinical experience Associate Degree:
10 years
hospital nursing experience
OR 5 years
hospital nursing experience with active enrollment in an RN‑to‑BSN program
Strong clinical knowledge and credibility in evidence‑based practice Proven organizational and multitasking skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with clinical technology and equipment
Preferred:
2 years of teaching or clinical education experience

Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to
50 lbs regularly Prolonged standing and walking during shifts Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, grip, and squat as required
