JOB SUMMARY
The Thread Roll Operator is responsible for the set-up and operation of thread rollers to thread headed blanks to specification. We are looking for an individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and experience on Waterbury or Hartford brand thread rolling machines and manufacturing socket cap screws.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Compiles dimensions of stock, sequence of machining operations, and type and size of the thread from charts and specifications.
- Selects, installs, and adjusts threading die, die cutters, chamfering tools, feed grips, pressure tripping mechanism, cams, gears and pulleys. Also sets fed rails, parts bowl, and roller sorter to ensure quality parts.
- Adjusts speed control knobs to synchronize transfer and ejection of stock with machine action.
- Selects correct SEMS components (washers) and loads into machine.
- Complies with all Safety practices and Quality regulations set forth by the company.
- Verifies dimensions of workpieces with specifications. Modifies and grinds thread roll dies as necessary.
- Maintains, oils, and cleans machines on a regular basis. Drains and cleans oil trays, dumps scrap, and sweeps floors to maintain housekeeping standards.
- Recognize and inspect quality issues and troubleshoots process or quality issues with engineers to correct and document.

SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Strong mechanical aptitude.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete routine production and quality reports.
- Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in production and quality control methods (ISO9001, AS9100 etc.) preferred.
- Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing implementation and production systems preferred.
- Five years industry experience or demonstrated capabilities
- Experience working in the Fastener industry is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms.
