Responsibilities
- Effectively contribute excellence in service to the operations of the Business and Corporate Events team.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and observe all safety and sanitation procedures. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs required Long periods of standing required
- Effectively maintain a professional atmosphere with all levels of faculty, staff, peers and visitors.
- Demonstrates: personal responsibility to ensure 100% accuracy in every aspect of the job; a take charge attitude to ensure all assignments are executed completely and accurately; and responsibility in punctuality.
- Maintain neat and professional appearance by wearing a clean uniform at all times.
- At all times, act in a professional manner and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and with outside contacts to ensure all requests are handled expeditiously and accurately.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Ensure delivery, set and clean-up of all catered activities on multiple floors throughout the building.
- Supervisor is informed of any problems that may arise in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
- Carries out job duties in a manner that is consistent with the service management vision of UPMC which includes the demonstration of appropriate behavior toward management, staff, peers and visitors.
- Meet and discuss with the manager the expectations of the kitchen operations; disseminate this information to all support staff and assure that events occur appropriately.
- Responsible for executing the set-up, service, and clean-up of all catered functions and requests with limited supervision.
- Ensure all equipment, linens, service ware, and glassware are clean and sanitized prior to use.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years' work experience in either event planning or catering/restaurant setting.
- Ability to work and exercise sound judgment when completing tasks.
- Good organizational and communication skills necessary.
- Good command of the English language, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Punctuality required.
- Ability to work extended hours when required.
- Occasional lifting up to 25lbs required.
- Long periods of standing required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or similar processes
